About The Law Office of Beth C. Thomas, PLLC

About.jpg

I founded The Law Office of Beth C. Thomas, PLLC to provide practical, personalized legal representation for people facing difficult legal issues. Based in Troy and serving clients throughout New York’s Capital Region, I focus on family law and criminal defense, and also represent landlords and other clients in civil litigation, property-related disputes, and legal name changes and gender marker updates, including gender-affirming updates to identity documents.

I take a thoughtful, client-centered approach to every matter. My goal is to provide clear guidance, strong advocacy, and practical solutions while keeping clients informed throughout the process.

In addition to my private practice, I serve with the Rensselaer County Conflict Defenders Office, where I regularly represent clients in family and criminal matters. I bring substantial courtroom experience, careful preparation, and practical judgment to every case I handle

I was admitted to practice in New York in 2020. Before opening my practice in 2021, I gained experience with the New York Legal Assistance Group, the Queens Volunteer Lawyers Project, and a clerkship with Judge Elgin Edwards, District Recorder of Chester, England. I hold a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Chester, England.

I understand that legal issues can be stressful and disruptive, and I am committed to helping clients navigate them with clear advice, careful preparation, and strong advocacy.
